Admittedly we don’t have many Presidential posts on the ole (Trip)wire over here, but if Barack keeps firing shots at music royalty we might just have to give him some more digital ink. Apparently, the President made an off the record comment stating so much last night that a reporter (ABC’s Terry Moran) ran with (err… Twittered with). ABC issued an apology and what not, but we’re pretty sure this will work out just fine for Obama in the end as at the moment it’s sort of like saying Orrin Hatch is old. (Via: Vulture via Politico)

The Fiery Furnaces like Obama. They like Obama so much that, in an attempt to build awareness and support for the President’s health care reform initiative, the bro-and-sis team are converting upcoming shows into mini-rallies, a plan made clear by two posts on their MySpace.
Why not have some information at your merch table, letting people know how they can support health care reform? Why not put someone on your guest list who can talk to people about how they can support health care reform? Why not mention that sort of thing from the stage, in the midst of one of your charming in-between-song monologues?
They’re also touring:

08.17.09 Carrboro, NC – Cat’s Cradle *

Apparently there was no sighting of the Obamas dancing to “At Last” like they did at ten other parties, there was plenty of good vibes to make up for it. Lucky for us, she took her camera with her and this is what she saw.

If you’re wondering how Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman managed to deliver a flawless performance in the below freezing temperatures of Tuesday’s Presidental Inauguration, you can stop now. Turns out the classical quartet who played prior to Obama’s swearing into office, managed to pull a fast one on viewers as a prerecorded track was played for all to hear instead of the real deal.
