
James Ford and Jas Shaw bka dance pop artisans Simian Mobile Disco have announced the release date of their sophomore album, Temporary Pleasure. The follow-up to 2007’s excellent Attack Decay Sustain Release will feature a laundry list of big names, one that includes Super Furry Animals’ Gruff Rhys, Yeasayer’s Chris Keating, The Gossip’s Beth Ditto, Telepathe, and Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor. August 18th is your magic number, the physical release (in addition to digital, duh) of the album to me made available exclusively through American Apparel retail location.

While everyone continues to sling message board mud at Wavves, OG buzz-masters Arctic Monkeys, aka the “Best Band Since The Beatles,” announced the forthcoming release of their third LP. The album, which is title-less as of right now, enjoyed more production strokes from Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford, the guy at the helm of their sophomore effort Favourite Worst Nightmare. But as far as twists worth salivating over go, here comes a doozy: Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme also banged away with the band in his Mojave Desert studio. Get excited.

It was the ideal evening and setting at Highline Ballroom last Thursday: a packed house of eager ears, a booming sound system, and Simian Mobile Disco delivering the highlights from their debut record, remixed (and sometimes, re-imagined). As the guy next to me said, “I don’t really know what they’re doing up there but it sounds awesome.” It looked pretty ultimate, too…
