Holiday Shores Get Evangelical(s) on Tour

Picture 2

Holiday Shores are southerners. Floridians, to be exact. They like beer. Their guitar player has been known to rock a camouflage hat on more than one occassion (see above). Therefore, it makes sense for the group to extol the virtues of Southern living on the nation, and who better to do so with than Norman, Oklahoma’s own Evangelicals. Ok, this pairing may seem a bit odd at first but hear me out. Evangelicals are known for their midnight horror vibe, while Holiday Shores prefer sunlight to moonlight. And we all know we can’t have darkness, without light, skinny without fat and tall without short, otherwise Twins just wouldn’t make sense. Get it? Good. Wooden Shjips Tour East Coast, Continue Bad Spelling

l_17d5a9ece1f64713ad0d5cb559731371

Wooden Shjips rarely leave the west coast. The South, Midwest and East just aren’t psychedelic enough for them. Besides, Shjips need water to roam, so trekking across the country ain’t exactly easy. Fortunately for tripsters on the right coast, the band will recalibrate their Shjip, fuel it with some veggie oil and make their way east. Of course venturing East means the Bay Area bands got to represent for the Mission, and they’ll do so by playing shows with bands with crazy names like The Stoned Ambassadors, Sounds of Kaleidoscope and the always killer Sunburned Hand of the Man. (Note: Sunburned hands really suck. Use at least SPF 30 to prevent such an unfortunate circumstance.) The band will also play Todd P’s Halloween bash at the newly opened Lombardy St. warehouse in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, alongside Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts and Religious Knives. Not a bad Halloween lineup, eh? Even creepier, the night before Wooden Shjips will score a screening of Wicker Man at 92YTribeca with all new musical arrangements. Mischief night hasn’t been this trippy since we dosed the fruit punch with silly string.
