Acrylics are popping up all over Brooklyn right now. The fivesome are currently recording their debut long-player, a release whose psychedelic bike ride jams have yet to officially find a label home. We spent an afternoon with them in founding duo Molly and Jason’s backyard, a mess of vines, knives and beer bottles not unlike the pop scene that’s at the core of “Summer Seventeen,” the song they stripped down and rolled out just for El Tripwire (that’s us, knuckleheads.) It’s good. Real good. Catch them tomorrow night, July 2nd, playing with Kuroma and Gift Horse at Pianos. On July 17th they play at Savoir Adore’s record release party at Cameo then back to Piano’s to play with Suckers and Class Actress on July 30th. Like we said, they’re all over the borough right now. Pretty soon they’ll be all over your brainspace.

They’re the ones responsible for one of our favorite videos of 2008, and now L.A. noise rockers The Mae Shi deliver some good old-fashioned animated bloodshed and carnage in the video for “The Lamb And The Lion”, the latest single from their highly acclaimed album HLLLYH.

You probably shouldn’t watch Ponytail’s video for “Celebrate The Body Electric (It Came From An Angel),” the latest single from Ice Cream Spiritual, if you have anything else that will require your focus and attention in the next, say, 20 minutes. Because this thing is going to mess with your mind.

Obviously one of our favorite bands, you can watch this video as well as our video of them playing The Tripwire’s 2008 CMJ party.

Douglas Hart, the original bassist for Jesus and Mary Chain, did the directing for “Sea Within A Sea,” the first single from The Horrors’ forthcoming album Primary Colors.

If good things come in threes, we can’t wait for tomorrow, since MTV has managed to do something right two whole days in a row — yesterday it was debuting Passion Pit’s “The Reeling” and today it’s Matt and Kim’s not-safe-for-Times-Square new video for “Lessons Learned.”

At least one thing in this video is the product of CGI. We’ll let you figure it out — just make sure you watch til the end.

Back in October, AC/DC took the stage for their first live gig in five years, kicking off their tour in the unlikeliest of places: Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Now we get to grab a little insight on what was running through the minds of the few thousand, the faithful, the fans, on that hallowed day.

There’s a lot you could say about this video, but we think we’ll let it speak for itself. It should be noted, though, that this is the first time that we know of that an AC/DC concert to be referred to as “a spiritual journey.” Enjoy.

AC/DC Fan Nation, Episode I: It’s A Long Way To Wilkes-Barre (If You Want to Rock ‘n’ Roll)

The U.K.’s inimitable Mike Skinner, better known as The Streets, has released the video for his latest single from Everything Is Borrowed, his fourth full-length LP. It’s simple, stark, catches the eye with some well-placed visual effects, and Mike even manages to grow a beard before your very eyes!

You know you’ve made art when MoMA hosts the premiere of your music video — such is the story for Department of Eagles, whose video for “No One Does It Like You” was screened as part of the museum’s PopRally series.

The video was produced and directed by The Directors Bureau, Patrick Daughters and artist Marcel Dzama, who also contributed costumes and set design.

Mali’s afro-pop-blues duo Amadou & Mariam released their album Welcome to Mali last week, and we’ve got an exclusive video performance of the first single, “Ce N’est Pas Bon”.

Mali’s legendary blind musicians have been rocking for years, but in 2009 they will be getting some serious international recognition as they tour with Coldplay and make a stop in Manchester, Tenn., for Bonnaroo. This performance of “Ce N’est Pas Bon” was filmed at a session for Radio France Studio 104.

“Everyday” is the first single from Vetiver’s fourth full-length LP, Tight Knit, out now on SubPop Records. The video is done in Karaoke-style, complete with the awkwardly-Atari looking intro screen and scrolling words across the bottom of the screen. If you mess up the words to this song, you officially have no excuse.

With his new album meeting the world last week, we bring you the first single from Bonnie Prince Billy’s latest release, Beware.

“I Am Goodbye” is the inaugural single from the LP, released last tuesday on Drag City.

It’s the debut single from the debut full-length LP — so many firsts we can hardly contain ourselves!

Telekinesis‘ debut record Telekinesis! is due out April 7 on Merge Records. The video for “Tokyo” is an erratic little stop-motion travelogue.

“Alcoholics Unanimous” is the first single from Art Brut’s forthcoming album Art Brut vs. Satan, out on Downtown Records May 12.

Frank Black produced the album, and if this first single is any indication it looks like it’s going to be a vice- and punk-filled wonderland.
