We’re a bit late to the St. Vincent video party, but that’s because we wanted it to stay up over the weekend. Being fans of Annie Clark since back in her Polyphonic days, we’re excited about her new record coming out on May 5. Entitled Actor, and being that the first single is called “Actor Out Of Work”, we see a theme coming.
In this beautifully crafted, simple video concept, we see Annie giving auditions to a cast of tryouts who all have to give their best crying routine. It juxtaposes interestingly with the upbeat tempo and happy sound of the song (one that is bound to end up on a television show or commercial soon, we’re sure of it), but Annie, c’mon, if you really want to make people cry, just abandon them at the train station.
