Exclusive Premiere – Clues “Haarp”

Clues

The debut record from Clues, the culmination of a partnership between Alden Penner and Brendan Reed, is finally ready to see the light of day on May 19. The duo have been quietly nurturing this project in Montreal since the demise of their respective bands, Unicorns and Les Angles Morts, and now with the Constellation release ready to go, Clues is ready to share their first video with the rest of the world.

All footage in the “Haarp” video was shot on Super 8 by local experimental filmmaker Karl Lemieux, an active member of the Double Negative Collective.

Karl went to Montreal to film while Clues were out flying kites in the bitter winter deep freeze as part of the artwork session for their debut album (photos from the kite flying expedition appear throughout the record packaging). Karl’s footage was then edited by Brendan and Ben from Clues. The kites themselves were designed and printed by local silkscreen luminary Leyla Majeri.
